Perth Amboy Elite Roofing is a roofing contractor based in Perth Amboy, NJ, with more than 20 years in the trade. We repair and replace roofs on detached houses, two-family rentals, small apartment buildings and storefronts with apartments above, from steep prewar gables to the flat rear roofs found behind so many of the city’s houses.

Most of our work comes from owners who want a roof problem solved properly the first time and explained in plain language. That shapes everything about how we work, from the first look at a leak to the last nail swept up from the sidewalk.

Our Approach

We start every leak call inside the house, in the attic or at the top-floor ceiling, and follow the water to where it actually enters before pricing anything. Then we give a straight answer on whether the roof can be repaired, and only discuss replacement when a repair will not hold. On low-slope rear roofs we check the seams, the edge metal and the drain or scupper, not just the patch someone left last time.

When a roof does need replacing, our written scope lists tear-off, decking, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and gutters as separate lines, so you can set our estimate beside anyone else’s and compare item by item. Decking found damaged once the old roof is off is photographed and shown to you before it is replaced at a per-sheet price fixed in the contract. Step, counter and chimney flashing is always replaced with the roof, and near the bay we choose fasteners and flashing for salt air and name every exposed metal item in the estimate.

Many of the buildings we work on are rentals, so we schedule with the tenants in mind and let them know when the crew is coming and where access is needed. Roofs carrying solar panels have the panel removal and reinstall planned into the schedule from the start. At the end of each work day the yard, sidewalk and gutters are cleaned, with a magnet sweep for roofing nails.

When storms damage a roof, we photograph and write up what we find for the owner’s own claim, and our crew will meet the insurance adjuster on site when asked. Owners applying to the city’s Home Improvement Program can submit our written roof scope with the application. Every contract we write follows New Jersey’s home improvement rules, including the three-day cancellation notice.
